Introduction.
Marriage is a sacred institution. People need a life partner to stand by them in every thick and thin. Traditionally elders made this decision but now with changing times people want to know more about their partners so they take this call themselves. Both systems are correct according to generation.
To begin with, in some parts of the world where culture and tradition is everything such decisions were made people followed their religion and respected their elders choice. In these countries people got married according to their traditions and they valued their culture. Moreover, in such countries marriage is not between two individuals but it is between two families and there were a lot of rituals behind this ceremony as it was considered the most sacred union made in heaven. In addition, marriages decided by families had blessings from both sides. All the marriages were successful just because of support and love from family members.
In contrast, today some couples take this decision by themselves as today people live in nuclear families and work in different parts of the country. They come across many people in their life and fall in love which turns into marriage later on. If this decision is taken by two mature and understanding people then it's the most beautiful relationship where two people are more friends than partners. They have mutual respect and care for individual choices. Enough space is available for individual growth. Furthermore, couples in the current generation are more independent and they make their choices in their academic, and professional life in the same way they decide their life partners.
In my opinion, today's generation wants a perfect life partner who understands them and supports each other. People spend most of the time with their partners so they do not want to compromise here. Traditionally people got married in totally different conditions which was proper according to that time.
To sum up, when it comes to deciding about a life partner, today 's generation takes the call individually.
