Describe An Interesting Thing You Have Learned From a Foreign Culture- IELTS CUE CARDS VINODSHARMAIELTS

Describe an interesting thing you have learned from a foreign culture.

Introduction.

We live in a closed society. Every now and then we find someone condemning western culture for being too open, flashy and modern in a way that is disturbing our society and the present day generation. Most of us believe that western culture is weakening our own value system and with time our culture will disappear. But this is not true. Our culture has survived ages and will be there for ages. Culture exchange makes us global citizens. We learn and teach eachother many things.

Main Answer.

Here I am going to talk about professionalism that I observed in western countries.

- What it is.

I have observed western culture very closely and I admire their professionalism. People in the West who do not allow their personal feelings, problems and dealings to interfere in their professional lives. Along with this we must be punctual and respect the other person’s time.

- How you learnt it.

I have travelled to many western countries and I have observed their behaviour very closely. They respect their job and they do it with all their heart. They give respect to all classes of workers and treat them equally. Being a student I have even worked in many blue collar jobs where I was treated equally and I was trained well before starting my job. This thing really impressed me a lot.

- Why did you learn it.

I learnt it just because I found it so useful and respectful towards others. Everyone should be treated accordingly and trained. Then only productivity can be obtained. And one can have job satisfaction for employees. In the future I want to start my own business so adopted this working culture I will apply all this to my own business.

- and explain how you think it will help others.

This working culture will encourage people to do all kinds of jobs and decrease unemployment in developing countries. Just by stopping discrimination. We can create a whole new working culture full of professionalism. We should change with time for good as everything in this world is changing. We must adopt the good values of western culture to our value system for betterment, growth and development.

Model Answer 2

Introduction.

Each and every culture has its own identity. People living in different countries follow different customs, traditions, and rituals. People living in the west are quite different from people who live in other parts of the world. Indian culture is popular in the world just because of its festivals, languages, clothes and many other things.

Main Answer.

Here I am going to talk about a thing I have learnt from Japanese culture.

- What it is.

Japan is the land of perfection and people are so punctual. They follow this religiously; they never waste anything; they respect time and food so much. This makes them different and special from others.

- How you learnt it.

Once I visited Japan and I came to know many things about this beautiful island country. People here are so professional and punctual. I observed they respect time a lot. They are not a minute late. While being late in India is just another thing that comes with excuses in their pocket. In the restaurant they ordered limited food and did not waste a little. I am so surprised and happy to see such nice behaviour.

- Why did you learn it?

I observed it and liked it. The respect for time was a very good thing we people lack so I decided to never be late in my life. To get maximum productivity we should use time in a meaningful way. And food should not be wasted because many people are starving in the world.

- and explain how you think it will help others.

If people start following these two things, any country can change and life can become beautiful. People will be more productive and food will reach everywhere. This will bring discipline in life and the wasted time will be used in learning and earning.
