IELTSCUECARDS JANUARY TO APRIL SPEAKING TOPICSIntroduction.
Waiting is a terrible feeling and in developing countries with a huge population we have to wait in a queue very often. In India people wait for their turn in banks, public offices,ATMs, and in public hospitals. While waiting people chit chat with each other about the current issues of the country. And others use their mobile to kill time.
Main Answer. Here I am going to talk about a situation I waited in a line.
- when it was - what it was about.
During the pandemic many people were facing issues regarding hospitals because of the rush to take vaccines. This happened to me also the day when I went to take my vaccine there was a huge line and tokens were distributed between all of them and everyone was waiting for their turn.
Government was distributing vaccines to overcome corona infections and vaccination was the only way to end this pandemic. So people were also aware about vaccination drive in the hospital.
- how long the queue/line was
When I received my token my number was 133 so I guess there were more than hundred people before me and at least near fifty behind me they were giving 150 vaccine zabs everyday. It was a huge line
- how you felt about waiting in this long queue or line.
I had to wait for at least a couple of hours and this was really boring but I started a conversation with one uncle. He was an editor of a newspaper and he gave me important information about the pandemic. Talking with him I did not realise when my turn came and we become good friends also.
Follow-ups
What do people like to do while waiting in line?
People surf the Internet, check social media and younger people play video games when they are waiting. Listening to music and chit chatting with each other are also popular activities while waiting.
Do Indian people often wait in line?
Yes absolutely India is an overly populated country and many have to wait for their turn. It's common to see long lines in India in different places.
Do you think the development of technology has reduced the time people have to wait in queues?
Definitely yes, with the internet people can make appointments online, pay bills, and customer care service is improved. Technology has changed the situation totally in some places. Because of mobile applications we can do many things sitting at home.
What do you think, cut in line or jump the queue?
It's a bad habit no one should do this. It shows how impatient we are and we do not respect others by cutting lines. Children do it in their innocence but adults should never cut lines. It's bad behaviour. We should be law-abiding citizens.
How can companies improve their customer service?
Companies can improve their customer service by introducing applications and websites. This can really reduce the burden of complaints, and they can also hire more employees to solve customer problems.
